Rough Cut Media Ltd was set up by award winning TV producer Nick Skinner after he left the BBC in 2020. His vision was to use his TV skills to build a video production company to make fantastic, broadcast quality content for voluntary organisations and and businesses.
Since setting up the business in 2020 he has worked for prestigious clients including the NHS, Leonard Cheshire, NCH Action for Children, Newport City Homes and many more.
He believes the most important skill of the content creator is storytelling. In a world flooded with brilliant videos, you need content that stands out and gets your message across. With years crafting both documentaries and online video, Nick is the man for the job – especially for emotionally powerful content.
And if your subject is sensitive, you are in safe hands. During his career Nick has worked with victims of crime (Crimewatch) people with ADHD and gender issues (NCH Action for Children), the homeless (BBC Current Affairs, Street Football Wales) and people with traumatic stories of mental illness (The Wales Mental Health Forum). Through all these interviews Nick got brilliant content while remaining sensitive to the special needs of his subjects at all times.
These are skills only years of experience can teach.
While we specialise in marquee videos – the kind of thing to show at a conference or fundraising dinner, or put on the front of your website – we can also make impactful square and vertical video for social media.
In fact, using one company to make all that content makes sense. We can use the same footage and just cut it up differently.
If you worry about quality have no fear. Nick filmed his first full documentary for broadcast in 2008 and has been developing his skills ever since. We use broadcast quality Netflix approved equipment, and film all our video in 4k.

They captured the mood, the music and the visuals and turned this into movie that is most impressive.
